How do telehealth visits work?

Visits happen by secure video through the client portal, on a phone, tablet, or computer. You'll get a link before each visit. There's nothing to download beyond what the portal asks for, and you can join from home, the car, or wherever works.

Your child doesn't need to sit in front of the camera the whole time. For tube-fed children, it can help to have your feeding supplies, pump settings, and formula or blend recipe handy.

Do you see families outside Texas?

Not right now. Dietitians are licensed by state, so I can only provide care when you and your child are physically located in Texas at the time of each visit. This includes travel: if you're out of state on a visit day, we'll need to reschedule.

What should I do in an emergency?

Telehealth visits and messaging are not for urgent issues. If your child's feeding tube comes out, they show signs of dehydration, they can't keep feeds down, or you're worried about their safety, contact your child's medical team right away or call 911.

Do you take insurance?

I'm an out-of-network provider and don't bill insurance directly. You pay at the time of service and can download a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies, and many plans need a physician referral and diagnosis code, so please call your plan first. See Packages & Pricing for details.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is an itemized receipt with the codes insurance companies use for medical nutrition therapy. You submit it to your insurance yourself. Messaging, recipe development, and coordination letters aren't billable to insurance, so superbills list only the visits.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Usually, yes. Some plans ask for a letter of medical necessity. I can give you a template letter for your child's physician to review and sign.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your visit. [POLICY: late-cancellation and no-show fee — Mariana to set]

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to book with me. Your insurance plan may require one for reimbursement, though, so it's worth checking with them.

Will you talk to my child's other providers?

With your written permission, yes. I'll send a summary to your child's doctor, feeding therapist, or ARFID therapist after the initial assessment, and keep them updated when the plan changes.

What happens on the free discovery call?

It's a 15-minute video call to talk about what's going on and whether I'm a good fit for your family. I won't give clinical advice on this call, since that requires a full assessment, but I'll explain how I work and answer questions about packages and scheduling.

Start with a 15-minute call

It’s free. We’ll talk about what’s happening at home and whether I’m the right dietitian for your child. I don’t give clinical advice on this call; that comes after a full assessment.
